Operators beside large stainless-steel production bioreactors

Support for transferring cell line and upstream CMC process knowledge between development teams, sites, partners, CDMOs and manufacturing organisations. A process is only transferred when the receiving site can reproduce it – not when the documents arrive.

Assess

Critical process and product knowledge, development gaps, scale and comparability risks.

Benchtop bioreactor

02

Package

Scientifically robust CMC and process-transfer documents.

04

Ready

Comparability confirmed and handover towards manufacturing.

Most delays happen when a bench process meets a large bioreactor

A biologic passes through three or four transfers in its life – from 10 mL–10 L process development, to 50–200 L pilot/tox, 500–2,000 L clinical GMP and 2,000 L+ commercial scale.1 Most delays occur at the first step.2

$80M

lost for each month of transfer delay on a biologic selling $1B a year2

6–12 months

launch delay from one missed gap in equipment, raw materials or an analytical method3

$100K+

to rerun one failed 2,000-litre batch2

Where and how an asset is made is now part of what it is worth. With the US BIOSECURE Act signed in December 2025, sponsors are seeking capacity in the US, Europe, South Korea and India – and buyers increasingly ask whether a process can move sites.4,5

Where rushed timelines break

Receiving-site equipment differs from the sending site; few programmes compare sites or build a scale-down model before GMP.6

Where Z2 helps

Site gap analysis, a transfer protocol, engineering runs and a comparability plan.
